Ford 1V carburettor - removal and refitting
Removal
1 Open the bonnet, disconnect the earth lead from the battery and remove the air cleaner.
2 Pull off the retaining clip and prise the throttle cable off the throttle lever ball.
3 Slacken the inner choke cable clamp screw and prise out the outer cable retaining clip. Free the choke cable from the carburettor.
4 Pull off the distributor vacuum pipe and the fuel vent pipe.
5 If a crimped type clamp is fitted to the fuel inlet pipe, it should be cut off

and a screw type clamp fitted. If a screw type clamp is fitted, slacken the screw, then pull off the fuel feed pipe.
6 Remove the two nuts that secure the carburettor flange and remove the nuts and spring washers.
7 Carefully lift away the carburettor and its gasket, remembering that the float chamber is still full of petrol.
Refitting
8 Refitting is the reverse of this procedure noting the following points:
a) Remove all traces of the old carburettor gasket, clean the mating flanges and fit a new gasket.
b) Check for correct adjustment of the throttle and choke cables.
